August Music Breakdown
It's September 1st, you know what that means! It's time to look at my music consumption statistics from the past 31 days :D
Top 10 Tracks
1. Degrade Me - TX2 (played 325x)
This song just released on August 3rd, and if you know my music tastes you know that TX2 is one of my favourite artists. There’s only a couple of artists I keep up with and listen to new songs as soon as they release, and those artists are TX2, Pierce The Veil, and Dream. Although I don’t actually like Dream’s music, I just have lots of friends who do so I like to know what they’re spamming my tumblr dash with. I guess I keep up with MCR5 too, but that’s basically a mass conspiracy theory so I don’t know if that really counts. Obviously, I listened to Degrade Me as soon as it came out, and I was immediately HOOKED. I also really like Loaded Guns, the second song in the EP, but Degrade Me took over my ears and I listened to it on repeat for a few days. The lyrics are so hot (and relatable lmao) and THE GUITAR OHHHH YEAHHHHHHH
2. Fuck The System - System of a Down (played 117x)
I listened to A LOT of SOAD this month. They’re one of the bands that I know I like but I never really put in the effort to listen to all their songs and add them to playlists, the only songs that I really knew were Sugar and Violent Pornography. Anyways, I put in the effort this month to listen to them more, and I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. Instantly in my top 3 favourite artists now. I even added a SOAD patch to my battle jacket!! I’ve really enjoyed listening to them this month. I love Fuck The System, especially the beginning verse with the "little bit bit"s are really fun to stim to ^^
3. Good Old-Fashioned Loverboy - Queen (played 111x)
Queen is another band that I know I like but I haven’t listened to a lot of their music, and I got reminded of them by Good Omens! I watched the new season at the beginning of August and I’ve been incredibly hyperfixated since then, this is also how I got my name in case you were wondering! I’ve been going by Crow for a long time and I decided to lengthen it to Crowley. Good Old-Fashioned Loverboy plays briefly in one scene and - I’m not sure if this is a normal person thing or an insane about music person thing - I felt fucking electric, I don’t know how else to explain it. When you listen to a song and you just feel SO MUCH. I put it on my obsession songs playlist and listened on repeat for a while.
4. Boy Division - My Chemical Romance (played 68x)
Did you really think there wouldn’t be any MCR on this list? There always is, you absolute fool. Boy Division is one of my absolute favourite from My Chem, it’s just SO GOOD. I love the fast lyrics, I love the guitar, I love how whenever I try to talk about how much I love it the only words that come to mind are RAHHHHHHHHHHHHH RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
5. Everyday - Buddy Holly (played played 56x)
I discovered this song via Good Omens season 2 and became briefly obsessed for a couple weeks. The insanity has fizzled out now, but I was feeling so many things when listening to this. I probably will never listen to it again though, it’s very different from my usual music taste. It was fun while it lasted :)
6. Insight - Dead Kennedys (played 53x)
I love this song! It has really nice bass, I love stimming to it. I also really like the lyrical style, the sort of repetition. The song has a very clear formula that satisfies my autistic brain. Every line is sung twice before moving on, except for the chorus which is played after each verse (which adds up to twice, I love it)
7. Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones (played 29x)
This song is so much fun to stim to :D I love listening to it on repeat while coding or doing something that requires focus. I'm going to make a playlist of songs to listen to while writing and coding at the library, and this will definitely be on it.
8. B.Y.O.B. - System of a Down (played 22x)
I LOVE THIS SONG. It has suchhhh nice guitar, and OHHH THE BASS THE BASS PLEASEEEEEEE I HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO HAVE SEXUAL FEELINGS ABOUT BASSLINES JUST OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH my headphones have a setting where you can turn up the bass and OH FUCKK ITS SOOO GOOD ITS SO GOOD. I also really love his voice in the chorus bit. I like that I'm not even pretending to be normal anymore
9. Randy McNally - TX2 (played 19x)
This song has really nice guitar I love it so much !! Also very true lyrics, and I love the casual namedropping lmao
10. No Respect - Destroy Boys (played 16x)
I love Destroy Boys! Super good song too, probably one of my favourites from them. I think my favourite would be American River though.
Top 10 Artists
The Chats | Pierce The Veil | My Chemical Romance | IDLES | Dead Kennedys | Fall Out Boy | System of a Down | TX2 | 36 Questions | Destroy Boys
This is pretty typical for me, most of those bands are usually up there. The order is not what I expected though, The Chats in first place? I don’t think I listened to them more than usual this month, in fact I thought I listened to them less than usual. None of their songs were in my top 10. PTV and MCR are usually both in the top 3, none of these bands are strange to be up there it’s just the order that’s atypical this month. Although I didn’t expect Destroy Boys, I don’t think I listen to them very much. 36 Questions makes sense, I got sad and listened to that on repeat for a while. I was expecting SOAD to be top 3 or 4 though, usually TX2 is higher too. IDLES, DK, and FOB are all pretty normal there I think.
I'm predicting for next month... I think TX2, MCR, and PTV will be top 3 artists (in any order). Maybe Gravel Pit will make it up there? Possibly Scene Queen as well. I'm not sure about top tracks, I'm guessing something by TX2 and probably more MCR. I also just realised there's no PTV song up there this month, that's unlike me. That will probably change next month.
